Stand and Deliver! – Establishing Peer Sex Education Projects with Young People
Dear colleagues,
There are still a few places remaining on the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health’s upcoming training course ‘Stand and Deliver!’, taking place on 10th February 2010, here in Sheffield.
This course is for practitioners, such as sexual health workers, youth workers, school nurses, teachers and learning mentors who would like to establish Peer Education programmes with young people in their local areas. Liz Murray and Liz Wilson have successfully run Sheffield’s citywide Peer Sex Education programme, PASH, for the past 5 years and more recently school-based Peer Sex Education projects.
This course is suitable for staff new to peer education with young people.
The course will:
*Present and explore two differing models of peer sex education, both citywide and school-based projects *Enable participants to explore and understand the training needs of young volunteer peer sex educators *Give participants training and resource ideas for use in the development of their own peer sex education projects *Allow participants the opportunity to examine difficulties and to develop the necessary skills to deal with difficulty
The course costs £125 for organisations outside of Sheffield.
If you would like to register for the course, you can do so via our online booking form at http://www.sexualhealthsheffield.nhs.uk/training/3-1.php or alternatively you can e-mail us at admin@chiv.nhs.uk.
Many thanks,
Ashley
